The Galveston Bay Project
is a year-long professional development program for K-12 grade teachers in the Houston area, primarily those teaching in the Houston Independent School District. An intensive three-week summer institute is followed by academic year follow-up sessions. Teachers learn about environmental, biological, and geological concepts relating to the Galveston Bay area through instruction led by university and regional specialists and through field and laboratory investigations. Technology instruction is tailored to meet the current needs of participants.

Teachers successfully completing the program receive three-hours graduate credit from Rice University.
