Shark eye shell - or moon snail,lives in shallow water and near the low-tide line,eats mussels and clams.

The color is a beatiful color it is porcelaneous,glossy ,gray to tan.There habitat is shallow waters of Galveston Bay and Gulf. The range is East coast ,Cape cod to Florida ,the Gulf states The occurrence is common in these states.They are common because I think is a beatiful shell with beatiful colors.
There alot of information in the internet but I think the important thing is that this gastroped plows through sand search of bivaldes and snails .It wraps its foot around the prey begins the slow process of drilling a round a hole in shell to eat the tissues by sticking a proboscis into the shell to extract the soft parts.This snail only eats when it is buried the snails found in the bay are darker and rounded then these found off shore in the Gulf.
