Teacher Professional Development Guide

Dear Technology Instructor,
These four components were develped for use as part of an instructional technology professional development course offered to PK-12 public school teachers in the Houston area. It was particularly designed to be done by novice to competent computer users in a lab setting with a facilitator. I can envision these resources being used in many other settings and by other groups of educators. Please let me know if you find these resources valuable and how you would change or improve them to provide a better resource.

Guidelines for Use as a Professional Development Resource

Each section takes from two to four hours to complete.
The most effective use is in a computer lab with a facilitator.
- The facilitator should go through each page and be familiar with the concepts.
- Teachers work in pairs or groups of four.
Teachers who are already comfortable with computers and the internet can do the exercises independently, however, for maximum effectiveness there needs to be a facilitator available by email.
