Announcing:
The First Ever (And Maybe The Only) IF Mini-Competition!
AKA the 'mini-comp', or, as Ola Bauge suggested, the 'Hyperactive
Fiction Contest'.
It's official! TFE(AMTO)IFM-C has begun! Grab the premise here and have at!
Update!
Since many people thought the premise was too complex for them, I've
started up a new 'micro-comp' to accomodate
them, and to ease up the pressure a bit. The mini-comp is still going;
if you still think you can do it, please keep working!
Here's the rough schedule of events:
- May 19th: Premise posted and uploaded; those lucky few with fast
feeds start work early.
- May 20th: Contest officially begins.
- May 21st: Micro-comp, with mini-premise, conceived and
announced.
- May 20th-June22nd: IF authors around the globe frantically work on
their (short) masterpieces, based on said premise.
- June 22nd: Contest sumission deadline (both mini- and
micro-). Authors must submit game file and source code (any authoring
system will do) to me by this date. Authors can either:
- E-mail me (lpsmith@rice.edu),
attaching the game.
- E-mail me and tell me where to find it.
- E-mail me and ask me where to upload it.
- E-mail me and explain that they don't have e-mail access, and could
they please make other arrangements?
- June 24th or thereabouts: All game files uploaded to gmd, probably
to reside in the http://ifarchive.org/if-
archive/games/mini-comps/ directory.
- June 24th - July 24th: Leigons of adoring fans play the resulting
masterworks, e-mailing me with their favorites and write-ins.
- July 24th or thereabouts: Voting ends.
- Some time after that: Winners announced, source code uploaded to
gmd, a tired lpsmith goes to bed.
Everything you need to know, really, is above, but if you like, you can
read my original post about the contest,
which includes the rules.
That's it! Happy coding!
