I am working with Milya to isolate EfgA and peptide deformylase (PDF), proteins involved in formaldehyde transport in Methylobacterium extorquens PA1. Our goal is to address the high possibility that EfgA and PDF interact by elucidating this complex using x-ray crystallography. Characterizing this interaction will increase our understanding of EfgA's function within this formaldehyde transport pathway.
